Preservation / Renovations Awards

The Preservation / Renovation Awards are given monthly to a downtown property owner who has made significant improvements to their land or structures. See the winners!

Statistics

  1. CityScape has provided technical and design assistance to 10 renovation projects. These projects participated in the Low Interest Loan Program that was established in 1993. The amount of private investment from these 10 projects now totals $1,200,000.

  2. CityScape has assisted in and encouraged the redevelopment of other building projects also. There have been 12 other renovation projects and building acquisitions that now represent a approximately of $700,000 in private reinvestment in downtown.
  3. The Downtown Improvement Project-Phase I, II and III represents $1,162,000 in public monies invested since 1993. Funding sources included State Street Aid funds, budgeted City labor expenses, TVA Investment account, Dept. of Forestry tree grant and private donations from the CityScape LampPost Campaign ($80,300). The project was established and managed by a joint effort of the CityScape Board of Directors and City government.
  4. These physical reinvestments in downtown total $3,504,300 since 1993. The dollars represent 63% private investment and 37% public.
  5. CityScape assisted in securing crucial elements in the establishment of Cookeville's downtown park. Through CityScape's partnership with the local Rotary Clubs, Homebuilders Association and the Lamp Post Campaign, Dogwood Park became a reality in 1995 ($4,800). The park recently received an award as the Best Public/Private partnership from the Tennessee Main Street Association.
