Lamp Post Campaign

CityScape recently announced that there are a limited number of lampposts available for purchase along the newly streetscpaped Cedar Street. Anyone may "buy," or sponsor, one of the lampposts, and the cost includes an engraved plaque with a personal message of the sponsor's choosing. For example, the family of Leon and Mary Jean DeLozier, who owned the Varsity Theater on Dixie Avenue from 1969-1983, purchased a lamppost on Mahler Avenue near the old theater building for the couple's 50th wedding anniversary.

There are also several lampposts available on Mahler Avenue and Cedar Street in the section south of Broad Street.

Proceeds from sales of the lampposts are used to help pay for the decorative lighting in the downtown.

To sponsor a lamppost, call the CityScape office at 528-4612.
